“24” Without Kiefer Sutherland?
More 24 may be on the way – but it may not star Kiefer Sutherland.
At the recent Television Critics Association press tour in Pasadena California, a twice yearly event which allows networks to showcase new and upcoming series to the media, Fox network execs Dana Walden and Gary Newman raised the possibility to another season of 24 sans Sutherland.
Nothing is set in stone at this time, but Walden and Newman revealed that series exec producers Howard Gordon, Evan Katz, Manny Coto and Imagine’s Brian Grazer raised the possibility of a 24 without terrorist hunter Jack Bauer.
Walden said a new season of 24, with or without Sutherland, could be on air in 2016.
According to Walden, the network does not want to completely eliminate Sutherland from the show. Instead, it just might do one season without him. She is confident the show and other characters will hold up – provided the storyline is exciting enough.
Sutherland is basically the “face” of 24 so it’s questionable as to whether the show can really work without Bauer – a solid character who constantly propels the show forward. How do you feel about a 24 Kiefer Sutherland? Tell us your views.
