China’s Jing Tian Signs Up For “Pacific Rim” Sequel
Jing Tian, the star of such Chinese films as Special ID and Police Story: Lockdown, has, according to Slashfilm, joined the cast of the Pacific Rim sequel. But there’s zero news about her character – looks like everyone is keeping tight lipped about the storyline and other personalities due to crop up within the second adventure of the franchise created by Guillermo del Toro and Travis Beacham.
However, we can tell you that Scott Eastwood, John Boyeg and Cailee Spaeny are among Tian’s fellow cast members.
Steven S. DeKnight, who has helmed episodes of TV’s Daredevil and Spartacus, is directing the sequel, which is set to commence filming in Australia this November. At some point, cast and crew will jet to China, where production is also set to take place.
Del Toro directed the first adventure, which grossed up more than $400 million on the worldwide arena, and is producing the sequel. Other producers comprise of Thomas Tull, Mary Parent and Jon Jashni.
Universal Pictures is set to release the pic, with the exception of China, in February 2018.
Tian, meanwhile, can soon be seen in The Great Wall, which concerns the construction of The Great Wall of China, and is set explore the origins of King Kong in Kong: Skull Island.
