Another “Spider-Man” Re-Boot On The Horizon
Looks like Spidey is being re-imagined once again.
Sony Pictures, which has always held the Spider-Man franchise, has just partnered up with Marvel Studios, owned by Disney, to bring a brand new version of the character to the big screen.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the character will first appear in a Marvel film. At the time of this writing both companies are keeping a very tight lid on additional details but the publication writes that it could be Captain America: Civil War.
Sony will then release a new Spider-Man movie, to be produced by Sony veteran Amy Pascal and Marvel’s Kevin Feige, in July 2017. Andrew Garfield, who played the character in the last two Spider-Man movies, is not expected to return. Instead, both execs will create a brand new slant for the web slinging super hero.
The companies are also discussing the possibility of bringing other Marvel characters into future Spidey movies.
Feige says Marvel’s involvement will deliver creative continuity and authenticity – elements which he says fans have constantly demanded from the Marvel universe.
However, the new adventures will fall under the creative control, finance, distribution and ownership of Sony.
