Ashley Judd Joins “Twin Peaks”
When it comes to David Lynch’s revival of Twin Peaks – his 1990 hit series – things appear to be moving rapidly.
Deadline is promptly reporting that Ashley Judd – most recently seen in last year’s Insurgent – has joined the series. Other cast members include Amanda Seyfried, Naomi Watts, Jennifer Jason Leigh, James Belushi and Tom Sizemore.
According to the outlet, the revival – which hits Showtime early next year – also affords Lynch the opportunity to reprise his role as Gordon Cole, an FBI Regional Bureau Chief. Joining him are fellow Twin Peaks veterans Sheryl Lee, Kyle McLachlin, Madchen Amick and Miguel Ferrer, among others.
The original series, which aired from 1990 to 1991, concerns Laura Palmer (Lee), who is found murdered near Twin Peaks, a small town located in Washington state. FBI agent Dale Cooper (McLachlin) investigates, and discovers a dark and seedy side to small town life.
In 1992, the series spawned Lynch’s Twin Peaks: Fire Walk with Me – a feature film which unfolded prior to the events of the series, and chronicled the last days of Laura Palmer.
