Benedict Cumberbatch is “Dr. Strange”
Benedict Cumberbatch has been confirmed as the title character in Marvel Studios Dr. Strange movie.
The star of TV’s Sherlock will, according to studio president Kevin Feige, “show audiences what makes Dr. Strange such a unique and compelling character.”
Cumberbatch’s involvement with Scott Derrickson’s project has been circulating around the rumor mill since October. There had also been speculation that the role could be played by names such as Ryan Gosling, Tom Hardy or Ethan Hawke.
Dr. Strange concerns a neurosurgeon who becomes the Sorcerer Supreme, a protector of earth against mystical enemies.
Cumberbatch can currently be seen as British mathematician Alan Turing, who helped crack unbreakable codes of Germany’s WW11 Enigma machine, in The Imitation Game.
