Blum and Roth Team Up For New Horror Series
Jason Blum and Eli Roth are teaming up to produce WE tv’s horror series South of Hell network’s second original series.
Matt Lambert and The Shield’s James Manor, Jr are the writers behind the show. Manos, Jr will also serve as showrunner.
In a press statement, Marc Juris, president of WE tv said his network is committed to “distintive and engaging stories to today’s savvy TV audience.”
He described South of Hell as “a dramatic thriller that introduces the audience to supernatural themes, and unforgettable character and the battle between good and evil.”
Set in Savannah, Georgia, South of Hell concerns thirty-something Maria Abascal, a demon hunter for hire.
Together with David, her brother, Maria is relentless in her pursuit of the forces of darkness, but she is also constantly battling Abigail, a demon that happens to live inside her. Abigail, according to the synopsis, feeds on the evil that Maria exorcises from others.
Roth, a fan of exorcism and possession stories, praised Lambert, in the same press release, for “creating a rich and original world in which to tell stories of good, evil and everyone’s own inner demons.”
The series, which currently comprises of eight episodes, is set to debut in 2015.
