Cruise May Star In ’80s Drugs Thriller
Director Doug Liman, who directed Tom Cruise in last year’s science fiction title The Edge of Tomorrow, may be re-teaming with the star.
Liman and Cruise are currently in talks to work together again on Mena, a drugs thriller set during the 1980s.
The project, which was originally to be directed by Ron Howard, concerns true story of Barry Seal, a fired TWA pilot, who became a major trafficker for the Medellin Cartel.
Later he was recruited by the CIA and DEA to provide intelligence. Seal was assassinated by the Colombians in 1986.
The project is being produced by Universal Pictures and Cross Creek Productions.
