Fincher Eyed For Zombie Sequel
David Fincher may direct the sequel to Paramount Pictures’ World War Z.
Variety is reporting that Brad Pitt, who played UN worker Gerry Lane in the first film, wants Fincher on board. This development comes after original director J.A. Bayona departed the project to helm the Jurassic World sequel.
According to the publication, Pitt, who will once again play Lane, has met with a number of potential directors. However, Fincher, who has previously directed Pitt in The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, Fight Club and Se7en, is said to be the star’s number one choice for the director’s chair.
Directed by Marc Forster, 2013’s World War Z, though plagued by extensive reshoots, was a massive hit at the international box office, raking up more than $540 million.
The story is based on Max Brooks’ best selling novel, chronicles a world wide zombie apocalypse. The second instalment will continue the story of the apocalypse.
