Franco To Star in King Adaptation For Hulu
James Franco is set to star in a Hulu’s nine-hour adaptation of Stephen King’s novel 11/22/63.
Franco’s character is Epping, a high school teacher who travels back in time to prevent the assassination of John F. Kennedy.
Warner Bros. Television and JJ Abrams’ Bad Robot Productions will produce the project, which will apparently be a combination of thriller and love story.
King, Abrams, and Bridget Carpenter, slated to write the teleplay, will serve as executive producers. Carpenter has previously written for the shows Friday Night Lights and Dead Like Me.
When the project was first announced last year, King said:
“If I ever wrote a book that cries out for long-form, event-TV programming, ‘11/22/63’ is it. I’m excited that it’s going to happen, and am looking forward to working with J.J. Abrams and the whole Bad Robot team.”
The project heralds Hulu’s first collaboration with Warner Bros. Television.
