“Frankenstein Chronicles” To Star Sean Bean As 19th Century London Cop
The Frankenstein Chronicles, a six-part reimagining of the classic novel written by Mary Shelley, has been ordered by the UK’s ITV network.
Set in 19th century London, Rainmark Films’ series, co-created by Benjamin Ross, stars Sean Bean as Inspector John Marlott, who discovers that the washed up body of a dead child is actually a very crude assembly of various human body parts.
Shaken by his discovery, Marlott, determined to track down the person responsible for the crime, discovers an underworld rife with prostitiution, drug smuggling and body snatching.
Executive producers are Rainmark’s Tracey Scoffield and Frank Doelger.
“The Frankenstein Chronicles is an epic reworking of one of literature and cinema’s most iconic stories,” said Steve November, ITV’s director of drama, in a press statement. “We’re delighted to be working with Benjamin Ross, Barry Langford and the team at Rainmark Films with the vision to bring Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein back to life.”
The Frankenstein Chronicles will begin filming on Northern Ireland in January 2015. No projected airdate has been confirmed as of yet.
