From “Rogue Nation” To The Train
Rebecca Ferguson, most recently seen in Mission Impossible: Rogue Nation, is currently in talks to star in the big screen adaptation of The Girl on the Train.
The Hollywood Reporter reports that the Swedish actress’ next mission, should she choose to accept it, would be to play the wife of Rachel’s ex-husband.
Rachel, for those who have not read the book, is a newly divorced and jobless alcoholic who spends her daily train ride fantasising about the perfect couple who live in one of the houses along the train’s route.
One night, following a drinking episode, she comes home covered in blood. However, Rachel remembers nothing of the incident, and is terrified that she may have been caught up in a crime. Emily Blunt has signed on to play Rachel.
Behind the camera, Tate Taylor, director of Get on Up and the four-time nominated The Help, is helming the film. Erin Cressida Wilson, meanwhile, is adapting the screenplay.
To date, two million copies of The Girl on the Train, which was on the New York Times best-seller list for 12 weeks, have been sold.
