“G.I. Joe” Girl To Play Elektra
French-Cambodian actress Elodie Yung is set to play Elektra, Daredevil’s sometime lover in the second season of Netflix’s Marvel’s Daredevil, a joint production between Netflix and Marvel Television.
This comes after season one made several references to Elektra.
According to Marvel’s press release, Elektra is a woman from Matt Murdock’s past “whose dangerous and exotic ways may be more than he can handle.”
Sounds like Yung, who is certainly no stranger to the world of action, is a good choice. She played Jinx in G.I. Joe: Retaliation, and starred in District 13: Ultimatum.
In fact, Joseph Loeb, executive producer and Head of Marvel Television, says Yung is “the perfect actress to both Elektra’s impressive and deadly physicality as well as her psychological complexity.”
Yung joins Walking Dead veteran Jon Bernthal, who plays Frank Castle, in the upcoming season. Look for the show to stream on Netflix in 2016.
This is not the first time that Elektra has jumped onto the screen. Jennifer Garner played the character opposite Ben Affleck in 2003’s Daredevil, and then again in Elektra, which was released in 2005.
