Hanks In Talks To Be “Cool”
Tom Hanks is currently in talks to play Chesley “Sully” Sullenberge in a big screen adaption of “Miracle on a The Hudson,” a dose of true life heroism.
In 2009, a plane, being flown by Sullenberger, had its engines knocked out by a flock of Canada Geese. The plane had just taken off from La Guardia Airport, New Jersey.
Realising that there was no time to return to the airport, Sullenberger made a decision to land on the Hudson River. The quick plan worked and all 155 passangers survived. The veteran pilot was instantly hailed as a hero. Michael Bloomberg, who was then mayor of New York City, dubbed Sullenberger “Captain Cool.”
Clint Eastwood, whose American Sniper grabbed up more than $540 million at the international box office, will direct the project from a screenplay by Todd Komarnicki. The film is based on the book Highest Duty: My Search For What Really Matters by Sullenberger and Jeffrey Zaslow.
Hanks recently completed filming A Hologram for The King, in which he plays a salesman who travels to Saudi Arabia to grab up an IT contract for a new compex being built in the desert.
