ENTAction.com has been given some new clips from Disney’s upcoming Marvel’s The Avengers.

Directed by Joss Whedon, the creator of TV’s Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Angel and Serenity, hits theaters on May 4.

Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, Mark Ruffalo, Chris Hemsworth, Scarlett Johansson,Jeremy Renner and Tom Hiddleston, with Stellan Skarsgård and Samuel L. Jackson make up the cast.

By now, the storyline is pretty much known to almost everyone, but we’ll run through it again anyway. The world is apparently on the brink of compete and utter disaster. If it is to be saved, Nick Fury (Jackson), the director of a peacekeeping agency known as S.H.I.E.L.D. will need a team to yank the world back from the brink.

Enter Iron Man (Downey Jr.); The Incredible Hulk (Ruffalo), Thor (Hemsworth), Captain America (Evans), Hawkeye (Renner) and Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson).

For the sake of those who may have been living under a rock, the film is based on Marvel’s comic series The Avengers, first published in 1963. Since then, the series has become a massive staple of the comic world and popular culture.
