James McAvoy To Star In Spy Thriller
Revolving around an underground MI6 officer, who is found dead on the eve of the Berlin Wall’s fall, The Coldest City, a new film project, has captured the eye of James McAvoy.
According to Variety, the actor will star alongside Charlize Theron, who plays an operative tasked with tracking down a list – containing the name of every agent working undercover in Berlin – which was being smuggled into the west by the officer.
David Leitch, who co-directed John Wick, alongside Chad Stahelski, will helm the title. Leitch was originally slated to re-team with Stahelski to direct John Wick 2, but bowed out after deciding that The Coldest City would be his next project. Instead, Stahelski will be the only director of Wick’s second outing.
Focus grabbed up the film, to be produced by Denver and Delilah Productions, Oni Press and Siera Pictures, at the Cannes Film Festival.
The duo are currently slated to direct Cowboy Ninja Viking, starring Chris Pratt.
Based on the graphic novel by writer A.J. Lieberman and artist Riley Rossmo, the story concerns a man who is put into a special government program to be transformed into a super solider who harbors the characteristics of a cowboy, ninja and Viking.
