Johnson May Star in Ludlum Adaptation
Dwayne Johnson is currently in talks to star in a big screen telling The Janson Directive, a Robert Ludlum novel to be adapted by Universal Pictures.
The project, which is currently sans writer and director, will be produced by Captivate Entertainment – which currently controls Ludlum’s estate. Ludlum also wrote the Jason Bourne novels.
Published in 2001, a year after Ludlum’s death, the story concerns an ex-navy seal who is targeted for assassination after a rescue operation goes disastrously wrong. As a result, he must go on the run to clear his name.
Universal believes The Janson Directive may be the start of a potential franchise.
Johnson will next be seen in Paramount’s Hercules, which opens July 25.
