Leto Joins “Blade Runner” Sequel
No word yet on Leto’s character, but after seeing him take on the role of Gotham’s number one psycho, it’s certainly going to be interesting to see what other boxes of tricks he has up his sleeve from an acting point of view.
Meanwhile, Ford plays Rick Deckard, the role he immortalised in Ridley Scott’s original Blade Runner, released in 1982. Scott will serve as an executive producer on the currently untitled sequel.
Hampton Francher and Michael Green have written the screenplay, which follows up on the original story by Francher and David Peoples. That tale, of course, was based on Philip K. Dick’s story Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?
Ford’s Deckard is a cop responsible for tracking down androids who have escaped from slave colonies.
In the director’s chair of Warner Bros’ project, produced by Alcon Entertainment, is Dennis Villeneuve – whose previous credits include last year’s Sicario and 2013’s excellent Prisoners, starring Hugh Jackman and Jake Gyllenhaal.
Filming is currently taking place in Hungary.
