NBC Picks Up Katherine Heigl Pilot
Three months after landing State of Affairs, NBC has picked up the Katherine Heigl drama to pilot.
Smokin Aces director Joe Carnahan is writing, executive producing and directing the project.
Heigl’s character is a CIA officer hand picked to become the president’s daily briefer. Her job is to identify America’s most critical threats.
If State of Affairs, which is currently being developed by Universal Television, goes to series, it will mark Heigl’s first return to television since her starring role in ABC’s Grey’s Anatomy.
The Peacock network has also given a pilot order to Coercion, another potential CIA drama.
Like Showtime’s Homeland, this show is based on an Israeli series .
The series concerns a CIA analyst and decorated American war hero who is unaware that his family is a Russian sleeper cell, which has recently been reactivated.
The Bourne Ultimatum’s George Nolfi is set to serve as writer, executive producer and director.
