New Bond Details Announced
Bond’s 24th outing is, of course, a follow up to Skyfall which made more than $1 billion at the international box office.
The announcement was made during a special launch held on the 007 soundstage at the famous Pinewood Studios located just outside London. Production begins there next week.
First off, 007’s latest assignment, entitled Spectre, will feature a brand new car which continues Bond’s love for Aston Martins – something which harkens back to 1963’s Goldfinger.
Skyfall director Mendes, who will also be helming Spectre, didn’t reveal any info about the special abilities of the Aston Martin DB 10, but he did say:
“We have worked together to design this new car. It’s a thing of beauty – and you’ll be able to see what it can do when you see the movie.”
Spectre, to be released on November 6, 2015, will shoot in locations such as London, Rome, Tangier, Mexico City and Austria. Principal photography is expected to last around seven months.
Mendes didn’t hesitate to bring cast members onto the soundstage. Daniel Craig, of course, returns as Bond; Ben Wishaw is back as Q; and Naomi Harris once again is Miss Moneypenny. Also, Rory Kinnear is Bill Tanner; and Ralph Fiennes reprises his role as M.
Meanwhile, newcomers to the Bond world comprise of Monica Belluci, Christoph Waltz, Lea Seydoux, Andrew Scott and David Bautista.
The storyline sees Bond tracking down the sinister titular Spectre (Special Executive for Counter Intelligence Terrorism Revenge and Extortion) – an international terrorist organisation which has frequently cropped up in the early Bond novels by Ian Fleming.
“We cannot wait to bring this movie to you in just under a year’s time,” said Mendes. “We hope you like it and we’ll see you then.”
