Rick Springfield Joins “True Detective”
Rick Springfield has signed up for the second season of HBO’s critically acclaimed True Detective.
However, it seems that a very tight lid is being kept on his involvement. The cable network isn’t giving any hints as to whether the singer of the hit song Jesse’s Girl is playing a cop, villain or some other character. Also, it’s not clear whether he’s a guest star or series regular.
Springfield has previously acted in Californication and General Hospital. He will also be seen in the upcoming feature Ricky and The Flash, in which Meryl Streep plays an aging rock star who tries to reconnect with her estranged children.
In the meantime, don’t expect to see first season stars Woody Harrelson and Matthew McConaughey. As of now, they’re unlikely to return.
Instead, Colin Farrell, Rachel McAdams and Vince Vaughn are at the center of the action, which, this time, is unfolding in California.
Not too many details about the storyline at this stage. We can reveal that McAdams plays a detective for the Ventura County Sheriff’s department who finds herself at odd with other cops – thanks to her unbreakable ethics. Farrell is a detective who serves a corrupt police department and a mobster, while Vaughn becomes Frank Semyon, a criminal whose empire is compromised following the murder of a business partner.
The season, to air in 2015, is written by series creator Nic Pizzolatto.
