Wahlberg And “Lone Survivor” Director To Team Up Again
Looks like Mark Wahlberg and director Peter Berg are teaming up for Mile 22 – an action movie. The duo, according to The Hollywood Reporter, are currently in negotiations with STX Entertainment, a newly formed movie and TV studio.
Wahlberg’s character is a CIA agent, who must transport an informant from the center of an Indonesian City, where he is stationed, to a plant waiting at a nearby airport. However, the route to the aircraft, which is over twenty miles from the city, is not an easy one. Together they’re forced to battle armed locals, corrupt cops and some serious criminals who do not want them to leave the country alive.
The project also stars wrestler turned actress Ronda Rousey and Iko Uwais , who also starred in 2011’s The Raid: Redemption and 2014’s The Raid 2.
Berg, Wahlberg and Stephen Levinson will all serve as producer. Graham Roland, who wrote the script, will jump on board as exec producer.
This is by no means Berg and Wahlberg’s first film together. They are currently shooting Deepwater Horizon – the true story of an oil rig which exploded off the Gulf of Mexico in 2010. 11 crew members were killed, and the incident caused one of the biggest offshore spilling disasters in U.S history.
The director and star previously worked together on 2014’s Lone Survivor, which recounts one of the deadliest battles in Afghanistan.
