“Walking Dead” Gets New Villain
For some time now, fans of The Walking Dead have been wondering when the psychotic and extremely vicious Negan will jump from the comic series onto the TV show.
Looks like their wish has finally come true. The Hollywood Reporter is reporting that Jeffrey Dean Morgan – seen in Supernatural, The Good Wife and Zack Snyder’s Watchmen – has signed on for the role.
According to report, he will debut in the season six finale, to be directed by Greg Nicotero, and will become a major part of season seven.
With his weapon of choice – a baseball bat named Lucille – Negan debuted in issue 100 of the comic series and immediately slaughtered a major character. Compared with Negan’s brutality and outright psychosis, the Governor, now deceased, looks like Ghandi.
Negan heads up the Saviors – a group of survivors running a protection racket to seize large amounts of food and supplies from communities. In return for their “contributions,” those communities get The Saviors’ protection against the zombies. To use a cliché, it’s an offer they can’t refuse.
