“Walking Dead” Producer Gets Mysterious
Looks like shuffling corpses are not the only things on Gale Anne Hurd’s slate. The producer of AMC’s The Walking Dead is, reports The Hollywood Reporter, teaming up with Spike TV to produce Pendergast, a new series based on mystery novels by Lincoln Child and Douglas Preston.
John McLaughlin, who co-wrote the screenplay for Black Swan, is scripting the series, set in present day New York, which Hurd is producing through her company, Valhalla Entertainment.
Child and Preston’s mystery series includes The Relic, Cabinet of Curiosities, Still Life with Crows, Brimstone, Dance of Death and The Book of The Dead.
The show’s title refers to the name of its central character – an eccentric FBI agent. The first season has Pendergast investigating a present day crime with ties to his family’s dark past.
This is not the first adaptation of Child and Preston’s work. The Relic, involving a creature’s deadly rampage through a museum, was transformed into a feature film back in 1997. Peter Hyams directed the movie, while Tom Sizemore and Penelope Anne Miller headed up the cast.
