“Walking Dead” Star Goes Back To Prison
Sarah Wayne Callies will reprise her role as Dr. Sarah Trancedi on the reboot of Prison Break.
The new show will premier during the 2016 to 2017 season on Fox.
Also returning are fellow original cast members Wentworth Miller and Dominic Purcell, who will again play brothers Michael Scofield and Lincoln Burrows respectively.
As the new storyline begins, Michael is presumed to be dead. Sarah, meanwhile, is raising Michael’s child with her husband, and, upon learning that Michael may still be alive, teams up with Lincoln to organize a massive escape.
Back in the very first season of the original series, Scofield broke Burrows out of prison to prove Burrows’ innocence and save him from death row.
The series, which ran from 2005 to 2009, grabbed up a Golden Globe Award nomination and also won a People’s Choice Award.
The new Prison Break will reunite the original production team, which includes Paul T. Scheuring and Neal Moritz.
Callies, who slew many zombies in AMC’s The Walking Dead, recently starred in the supernatural chiller The Other Side of The Door.
Fox has recently revived its hit shows 24 and The X-Files, so it makes sense that the network is breathing life into this title. Whereas The X-Files and 24 allow for numerous storylines, however, one tends to wonder whether it’s possible to keep putting a fresh and invigorating spin on a prison break. Surely there’s only so much you can do in busting cons out of the can. It’s certainly going to be very interesting to see what the writers and producers have in mind. We’ll be sure to keep you posted.
